Alongside 20 years of working in architectural practice and following a life-long passion for writing & exploring experimental electronic music, I have 'found' my expressive media - painting!
I work freely, aiming to express joy, playfulness and spirit in each piece.

Landscape
The landscape paintings do not seek to depict a representation of 'a' physical place but seek to aggregate abstracted emotional
responses from places visited.
Often sketches from memory form the basis for development of a painting, sometimes 'plein-air' sketches will form the basis.

Abstract
The abstract expressionist paintings often aren't planned but instead rely on a process of exploration and development as the mark-making process reveals new interpretations, suggesting new direction guided by an
emotional response.
Occasionally, a 'generative'
concept or, a precedent study will guide the creative process.

The sketches and studies are an opportunity to explore without pressure or preciousness.
The process is undertaken by masking off 6 squares on an A2 piece of mid-weight water colour paper that has been gessoed and painting loosely over all of the sheet and removing the tape at the end to reveal 6 individual sketches. the sketches are individually glued into a sketchbook, 1 per page.
